The Blue Last, Martha Grimes

A thorough Richard Jury novel. The series bit-characters are beginning to seem mechanical to me, but the mystery is so well done that I can't think of anything to say about it that wouldn't be a spoiler.

Because it's a Jury novel, his finding the solution does not advance the cause of human happiness in any clear way. I should look up the philosophy of pragmatism. So wrote clew in Mystery.
