The Tomorrow Log, Sharon Lee & Steve Miller
Too predictable. The good characters are too virtuous; they overcome the prejudices and cruelties of their upbringings too easily, with too few errors. They avoid both the minor errors made from confusion and the major ones normally made in the chaos renovating one's entire worldview.
The Regency manners failed to convince me; in the Liaden worlds of Agent of Change, &c., I thought them supportable; but in a different political setting, not.
As a shallow book it isn't bad, but their first ones were better.
